Frequently asked questions.
According to TSA rules, tools longer than 7 inches must be placed in checked baggage. At 7.25 inches long, BoglerCo trowels are just a quarter inch longer than what is technically allowed; however, we have carried the trowel in carry-on luggage many times without any issue, and our customers report doing the same. Cottage manufacturing refers to the small-scale production of specialized goods from a private home or workshop. For BoglerCo, that means every trowel is handcrafted in Ben Bogler’s own home. The raw materials arrive in the garage, including sheets of aluminum produced in the USA, and our finished products go out the front door to be shipped worldwide. Nothing is outsourced, and there are no intermediate transportation steps that consume fuel and packaging. This small-scale production system and end-to-end integration of our processes allows us to be extremely efficient with the materials and energy used.
The four holes reduce the weight of the trowel and improve grip. The top hole is best for clipping on a carabiner or lanyard, and the lower holes can be used as an emergency tent stake or a deadman’s anchor.
Yes! And most of our tools are manually powered, so the energy used to cut, punch, stamp and bend your trowel comes directly from whatever our team had for breakfast.
