Learn how to use the BoglerCo trowel.
Keep your trowel in tip-top condition for years to come.
How to use.
Use the palm of your hand to push the trowel into the ground.
Easy to use and designed for comfort.
The plastic end cap will cushion your palm as you apply force. A good cat-hole is about 7 inches deep, the same length as this tool.
Use the serrated edges to cut through roots.
The thin edge cuts cleanly through turf and small roots while the serrated edges will slice larger ones.
Push backwards on the handle to dig up the soil.
Fill in and hide your hole when finished!
Always remember to Leave No Trace.
Never push forward on the back of the handle to pry something. (See illustration.) This trowel is amazingly strong for its weight; however it's not indestructible. Most of its strength comes from its bent shape so take care not to warp or flatten it.

Care instructions.

Do not use cleaners with bleach.
Your trowel will last for years with the correct care.
Bleach will oxidize the aluminum causing dark splotches.
Do not use in fire.
Exposure to open flame will change the heat treatment properties of the metal, permanently weakening it.
File occasionally.
Some wear will appear over time.
The metal is treated with a natural oil to prevent corrosion. It is purposefully not anodized to avoid releasing toxic chemicals into the environment during manufacturing. The surface will eventually show wear, gaining a simple rustic aesthetic all its own.
The teeth may become rounded over time, use a small metal file to make them pointy and sharp again.
GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR TROWEL!
Try using your trowel as a tent stake, flyswatter, or a shoehorn. The holes on its handle improve grip but also allow for the trowel to hook easily into a carabiner or even to function as a deadman’s anchor.
How to dig a proper cathole.
When hiking in remote areas without a toilet, it’s important to dispose of human waste in a cathole. Catholes maximize decomposition, minimize the spread of disease, prevent water contamination and avert aesthetic and social impact. Follow these guidelines for a proper poop in the backcountry!
YOUR CATHOLE SHOULD BE:
At least 70 adult paces (200 feet) away from water sources, trails, and campsites
6-8 inches deep in most environments or 4-6 inches in dry desert environments
Only filled with human waste (generally)
You can sometimes leave toilet paper in temperate environments, but it’s safest to pack it out along with any other inorganic waste (wipes, feminine products, etc.)
Fully filled, covered, and hidden after you’ve done your business
Single use — never go in the same place twice
In some special cases, you shouldn’t dig a cathole but instead, pack out your waste. Make sure you read the guidelines for waste disposal in the area you’re visiting before heading out so you’re sufficiently prepared for your trip! The backpackers who love us.
“I can’t believe I didn’t order this trowel sooner. Everything about it is just better than the Deuce. The curve allows it to more easily dig into the tough ground and the plastic piece on top makes it super comfortable. Easily the top of the ultralight trowel food chain.”

“Easily the top of the ultralight trowel food chain.”
“Don't bother with anything else, this is exactly what you need.”
“Digs well, cuts roots with the serrated sides, with just enough comfort built in with the plastic tip on the end so you aren't hurting your palm if you have to put some weight into it. For the cost and how incredibly light it is, I wouldn't think twice about recommending it.”

“This is the perfect trowel for digging a hole for backpackers.”
“Super lightweight yet very strong. Easy to use. This trowel has rubber on the top end so you can push into the ground without hurting your hand. All in all, a simple and reliable tool for going to the bathroom in the backcountry.”
