I've always loved to make things with my hands. As a kid, I started with LEGOS, plastic model cars, and wooden ship models. Fast forward to adulthood, with two degrees in Mechanical Engineering, I found myself modifying or making my own gear for biking, backpacking, and literally just about anything around my house or work.

The idea for BoglerCo began when I tried a commonly used backpacking trowel and was sorely disappointed. So I decided to make my own. I tested and iterated for months until I had spreadsheets for stress analysis and bend angles, charts for strength-to-weight ratios, and a pile of trowel prototypes.

The final design was an attempt at the "perfect balance" of size, strength, weight, cost, durability, and functionality. Making it as lightweight as possible without sacrificing durability or effectiveness was key.

I put my design on Esty and just like that, BoglerCo was born. Things have ramped up fast. Response to my product has been amazing, and I’m lucky to now be able to do this full-time.

I believe in small flexible manufacturing and the "made in USA" ethos. By doing all of the manufacturing myself, in my home shop, from bringing in the raw materials to shipping out the finished product, I eliminate unnecessary, intermittent steps and create room for user feedback to immediately impact the design. The future of BoglerCo will never involve outsourcing anything. BoglerCo products will always be hand made from start to finish under one roof.
